Hello Friends!
As I write this in my stuffy third floor bedroom with the fan on full blast it seems pretty clear that summer has arrived in Boston. The past few months have been full of new ideas and potential, just as Spring should be– my solo piano experiment, working on the Katie McNally Trio album, playing accordion with the new Galen Fraser Quartet just to name a few. Now as Summer arrives, life is about to kick into high gear. June will see me headed out to California for the Alasdair Fraser Sierra Fiddle Camp as well as on the road with Party of Three for a week. Other projects will be fitting in around those trips before I head into a very gig-filled July.
The event I really want to highlight this month if you live in the Boston area is the Boston Scottish Fiddle Club Gala Fundraiser on Saturday June 11th. Some of you may know I have been brought on board as the Artistic Director for the new performing wing of the BSFC, called the Boston Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. We will be presenting the group in its first public performance at this fundraiser which takes place at the Canadian American Club in Watertown, MA. The fundraiser benefits the BSFC and features performances by Hanneke Cassel, Katie McNally, Ed Pearlman and myself. After the concert portion there will be dancing played for my Anne Hooper, Barbara McOwen, Rachel Reeds and Terry Traub. Refreshments and a silent auction will add to the fun and give more of a chance to support the club. Details on that event and the rest of what I’m up to in June can be found in my schedule below.
